It took me 30 minutes to set up. First, you have to call AT&T to un-bridge the DSL modem. That usually happens when the laptop is one for longer than 24 hours. I get good coverage over 1,645 sqft of space. Overall, I had this router for a month now, it works fine. Second, you have to call Linksys to have them reconfigure the modem for DSL line.
I guess it has to "recycle" the connection. The router works as advertised. If you are AT&T DSL customer, it requires couple of additional steps to install it. The router drops wireless connection once in a while, but picks it up in a few seconds.
I recommend you use an old 900mhz or 5Ghz or 5.8GHZ model, some I've seen for < $20 online. But once it's up and running - great stuff. This is a little tricky to synch with an ipod touch. Manually sync to the key not the passphrase unlike other routers. Keep in mind it runs at 2.4Ghz so certain portable phones may go fritzy on the same channel.
This one is more than sufficient to stream music, internet radio and movies from Netflix. In both cases, I have a great signal. Just plug in the CD and follow instructions. However, I can tell you that I am a first-time installer of a wireless network in my home and I am extremely pleased with this product. Five stars. What I realized is that you don't need a fancy n-router.
Not bad for $50. I did a bit of research into this product, but I am by no means an expert. I have two devices that run off the wireless router: a Roku player and a Squeezebox Radio. In addition, set-up of the product was easy, even for a beginner like me.
Took it out of the box, followed the instructions and it's been working without a problem for the last two months. Highly recommend. This is a great router. Speed is laggy once in a blue moon but otherwise really great.
So, in summary, a defective product and terrible customer service. Linksys wouldn't honor the warranty. This router failed shortly after I received it. It was difficult to set-up/configure and was very user unfriendly with a DSL internet connection. When I got ahold of tech support (somewhere overseas) they were uncooperative and eventually hung up on me.
